How to Activate RTL

The theme switches to RTL mode on its own when the site uses a right to left language, such as Arabic, Hebrew or Aramaic.

The Foxiz RTL demo in Arabic: the header mirrored, with the logo on the right and the menu running right to left, outlined in orange

Switch the site to an RTL language

To change the language, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Settings > General

  2. Select your language in the Site Language field

The Site Language field on Settings > General set to العربية (Arabic)

  3. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.

What changes when the language is RTL

That is the whole switch. Foxiz has no RTL option of its own: it reads the direction of the language you just picked and loads the mirrored stylesheets in place of the normal ones.

Four stylesheets change over:

  • the main theme stylesheet
  • the WooCommerce stylesheet, if you run a shop
  • the podcast stylesheet, if you use the podcast module
  • the block editor stylesheet, so a post reads right to left while you are writing it

If the site is still left to right

note

What decides the direction is the language WordPress is running in, which is not always the one on this screen.

Each user can override it for the admin with the Language field on their own profile, and a multilingual plugin overrides it per page. If the front end is still left to right, check the language actually in force rather than this setting.
